The allied coalition, led by the nation of Panem, has officially landed troops on the ground in the nation of Oceania, according to sources inside of the Department of Defense.
The invasion, which marks the first allied military move in the war against the Oceanian Empire terrorist group, is also the first invasion on foreign soil by any nation since World War IV.
Statements are expected to be made by Jonathan Madison, the Secretary of Defense, and by President Peeta Mellark. We will bring you updates as we get them.
UPDATE: The Secretary of Defense issued a statement:
“The nation of Panem, in accord with our allies, has initiated a military move in Oceanian territory. As this movement is currently classified, we cannot comment further at this time.”
UPDATE 2: The President addressed the nation:
“As I mentioned to you last, our nation is at war. Our nation has an obligation to defeat the Oceanian Empire, and that is what we are going to do. As of today, allied forces, led by Panem’s finest, have landed on the shores of Oceania. The government of Oceania has not yet responded, but will likely be very unhappy to say the least. However, we have determined that OE is headquartered in their territory, and we must extinguish this threat, even if they refuse to. May God bless us, our brave men and women who fight for our freedoms, and for our great country’s efforts.”
