Tyler Thompson, known for his high-profile stint as Vice President of Panem as well as his independent governorship of District 5, has declined to run for either president or vice president of Panem during the upcoming elections. Thompson previously ran for president last election cycle, falling short. He currently holds the post of Secretary of International Trade, serving in both the Everdeen and Canth administrations.
Thompson’s decision to opt out of another run clears the presidential and VP fields this round, as many expected him to run and be a major contender this time. Thompson has declined endorsing a candidate early, saying that “it’s too early- there are very few declared candidates, and I need to make sure that my endorsement is well-used.”
Thompson’s decision also is made with age in mind- he will not be leaving office anytime soon, being a favorite between both the Liberty and Conservative Parties. It will keep him very relevant, and many think that his time has simply not come as of yet.
